About DanceMakers

Choreographers need spaces to showcase their work, and dancers need opportunities to perform, especially during times when there is much in society to comment on.  Because DANCE can be one of society's most powerful influences, communities benefit from creating space for DANCE ARTISTS to thrive.  The Rockford DanceMakers Festival is one such space.

The Rockford DanceMakers Festival is an annual event that showcases the work of dance artists.  In its inaugural season, the Festival featured the diverse work of ten choreographers.  The Festival also provided opportunities for those with expertise in technical directing, lighting design, sound design, costume design, graphic design, photography, videography, marketing, and arts administration, among others.  The network among Rockford-area artists was strengthened, and new connections were created.  Community resilience was strengthened through in-kind contributions, including rehearsal space, fiscal agency, and volunteering.  With hard work and sweat came the result: a dance-centric event that benefited the greater Rockford dance community and its audiences by entertaining, challenging, moving, and inspiring through the first of many annual productions.

Let's continue to celebrate the incredible art form of dance and all those who dedicate their lives to creating it.
